![]() A higher parking lot has handicapped parking and access to restrooms (open seasonally). The road soon forks and you can continue on to the dam (more than a mile long, 65 feet high, crest 35 feet) and viewing area or turn right to drive to a parking area for fishing and hiking access. Once you turn off the highway, the traffic noise vanishes and you are in a secluded valley. Most tourist traffic rolls down 250 in a rush to get to Wilmot or New Philadelphia and bypasses Beach City dam and lake, if they even notice the sign at the entrance near the intersection with hwy 93 south to Sugarcreek. We had a great time but would have liked it better if the weather were cooler. We got towels replaced with clean ones the second day. ![]() It was easier to get to the beach in the golf cart than driving your car over (t is a long walk) and we were able to drive around and catch a breeze to keep cool. We rented a golf cart for both days and were glad we did. There are 2 shower houses/bathrooms in the campground that ARE air conditioned so we went to those. It is NOT air conditioned so hard to use in the summer (hot and lots of bugs at night with the lights on). ![]() The shower house/bathroom is not very far to walk to. On the 2nd night we left some clothes inside, and they were full of ants the next morning. We didn't keep any food in the tent at all to avoid attracting ants and other critters. Not much shade on the "porch" so it is hard to enjoy the campsite during the hot summer days.Īt night, it was comfortable enough to sleep - maybe 78 or so inside the tent. We kept it on and had the tent closed up all day, but it was hotter in the tent than outside. Has a portable AC unit but it just doesn't cut it during the day. We stayed in the Eco Tents in the campground for 2 nights in July. ![]()
